What is Zhuyin?

Zhuyin, also known as Bopomofo, is a phonetic alphabet used to teach Mandarin Chinese pronunciation, especially in Taiwan. It consists of 37 symbols representing different sounds, including initials (consonants), medials, and finals (vowel sounds). Zhuyin is a helpful tool for beginners because it provides a straightforward way to learn how to pronounce Chinese characters accurately without relying on the Latin alphabet. By mastering Zhuyin, learners can better understand the sounds of Mandarin and improve their speaking and listening skills. This mini-course will help you familiarize yourself with Zhuyin symbols and their corresponding sounds, making it easier to build your Chinese vocabulary, and sound way better than your classmates and colleagues.
